Copper kitchen sinks are in great demand as a luxury kitchen sink due to its unique copper colour. Artistic designs and hand hammered copper kitchen sinks are loved by those who cherish their kitchen to be a traditional and luxurious one. Farmhouse kitchen sinks commonly called apron sinks are another hot item in the luxury kitchen scenario. The most common material for farmhouse sinks is porcelain or enamel. But nowadays copper farmhouse kitchen sinks are available with reputed companies which guarantee the quality of copper used.
When it comes to the materials used there are also different types of large deep kitchen sinks. These materials are: stainless steel fireclay cast iron copper and porcelain. If you prefer a sink thats light weight and stain-resistant you should choose a stainless steel sink. Fireclay kitchen sinks however are able to withstand the extreme heat of your kitchen. Whats more it is non-porous and rust-resistant. Although cast iron sinks are heavy they are helpful in giving a traditional farmhouse look to your kitchen. If the theme of your kitchen is French-influenced then copper sinks are a way to go - as a word of warning this type of sink is also hard to clean. But if you want a higher level of sophistication you can use porcelain sinks. Other materials used are: glass granite and even plastic.
Copper has natural antibacterial properties. It will prevent the germs from developing in the sink. Some copper sinks have coatings which totally remove the natural antibacterial properties of copper so it is advisable to go for a non coated copper sink for the sink to be germ free. Moreover the coating or the plating will eventually wear off. Natural colouration of copper is feasible but ageing improves the appearance of copper. Copper apron sinks that are mainly used in farmhouses can be made more feasible if you give a fire and ice finish on the apron.
